Personality Development and Theatre
“Personality Development” – these two words are of great importance in parenting. Most parents are always on the lookout for different opportunities that will help their wards enhance personality skills.
Theatre is one such area where children can transform their character and evolve into a new personality. A huge part of theatre practice involves becoming better at reading, speaking, pronunciation and enunciation, projection of voice, emoting, expressing, listening, interacting, imagining & improvising. All practical skills are advantageous for not only a business but even in day to day life.
Howard Gardner in his research found that all of us are gifted with different types of intelligence and have a variation as to which of the intelligence plays a more dominant role in us. He concludes that there are 8 types of intelligence in all of us, which can be listed as:
- Visual / Spatial
- Linguistic / Verbal
- Logical / Mathematical
- Kinesthetic / Physical
- Musical
- Interpersonal
- Intrapersonal
- Naturalistic
A student of theatre is exposed to all 8 multiple intelligences through the different modules. Apart from facilitating the evolution of the multiple intelligences, the theatre also helps students explore various life experiences and emotions through stories, poems, plays, role plays, character analysis in a safe & controlled environment. Theatre also facilitates opportunities for teamwork, group discussion, time management, planning & execution through other expressive avenues such as direction, lyric writing, playwriting, dance choreography, costume designing, set designing, backstage management, marketing & publicity.
Stage or even small group performances build your confidence not only as a performer & orator but it gives a major boost to yourself belief & image. We at Greater Noida Podar Learn School strive to bring out the best in your child and provide him or her with ample opportunity to participate in school activities.
While doing everything it does, theatre is a medium of ‘playful learning’, where you hone your skills at conscious & subconscious level while having fun with the process. Today in summer camp, children had a wonderful session with the renowned theatre artist, Mr. Gurjeet Pathak, associated with Ashmita Theatre Group.
